    KVs in Skill Hub Initiative (SHI) under PMKVY 3.0

    Towards the goal of integrating vocational education with general education, as envisaged in NEP 2020, the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship have envisioned skill training in Skill Hubs across the country identified from the education and skill ecosystem.

    As per the directions of the Ministry of Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, KVs have identified 300 KVs across the country which will be developed as Vocational Education Centres and will be used for imparting skills to out-of-school and out-of-school youth after school hours as a part of the pilot project under the Skill Hub Initiative of the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

    Out of the 300 KVs, 228 KVs have started skill courses for out-of-school candidates. And in the session 2022-23 5809 candidates have completed the courses mainly in IT-ITES, Electronics & HW, Agriculture, Apparel, Made-up and Home Furnishing sectors.

    KVS in Skill Hub Initiative (SHI) under PMKVY 4.0

    Based on the challenges faced in implementing the earlier phases of PMKVY and learnings gathered, the next phase of PMKVY, i.e. PMKVY 4.0 is being implemented between FY 2022-2026 under the umbrella scheme of “Skill India Programme”.

    PMKVY 4.0 is being implemented with a key focus on making the existing skill ecosystem more flexible, agile and efficient to meet the current challenges and emerging needs through process simplification.

    In the current session 2023-24, 350 CSEs have been empanelled as Skill Centres under PMKVY 4.0 scheme to impart skill training to school or college dropouts, out of education and unemployed youth and CSE internal candidates in the age group of 15-45 years in line with the guidelines issued by Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

    CSEs have opted for skill courses in IT-ITES, Healthcare, Beauty & Wellness, Agriculture, Sports, Media & Entertainment, Apparel, Electronics, Management etc. A large number of candidates are registered and the courses are in progress.
